When sleep
becomes difficult

You might feel exhausted at the end of the day, only to find your mind becoming more active the moment you get into bed.

Perhaps you struggle to fall asleep, wake during the night and can't settle again, or lie awake worrying about how you'll manage the following day.

Over time, sleep itself can become something you feel anxious or frustrated about. The harder you try, the more elusive it can seem.

You may recognise:

  • Lying awake replaying the day or worrying about tomorrow.

  • Waking through the night and struggling to get back to sleep.

  • Feeling physically tired but mentally alert when it's time for bed.

  • Becoming increasingly worried about whether you'll sleep.

  • Finding that poor sleep affects your mood, energy, concentration or enjoyment of everyday life.

Sleep difficulties can have many contributing factors, including stress, health conditions, routines and life circumstances. When worry and tension have become part of your experience of sleep, learning to respond differently to them can be a valuable part of moving forward.

How I work with sleep difficulties

I'm Corinne Nijjer, a clinical hypnotherapist with a background in social work and training in EMDR and NLP.

When sleep becomes a struggle, the problem isn't always confined to what happens after you get into bed. Worrying about sleep, anticipating another difficult night and feeling frustrated when you're awake can all become part of the experience.

We begin by understanding your particular sleep difficulties, what happens when you try to rest, how they're affecting your days and what you've already tried.

Depending on your needs, our sessions may include clinical hypnotherapy, guided imagery, relaxation techniques and practical strategies to help you settle your mind and body.

We can work on reducing the tension and frustration associated with bedtime, developing different responses to racing thoughts and helping you approach sleep with less pressure.

The goal is to make rest feel less like something you have to fight for, while working towards more settled nights and better days.

Because sleep difficulties can also have physical or medical causes, I'll encourage appropriate support from your GP or a sleep specialist when needed.

I offer this work through my Leading Minds Breakthrough Method, a personalised one-to-one program typically involving weekly sessions over 10–12 weeks, with practices and resources to support you between sessions.

Everyone's experience is different. Here's what Jake shared about working with me.

“I saw Corinne for night terrors and trouble sleeping.
Over the 12 weeks I felt a huge improvement with my sleep and overall energy in the mornings. She also gave me tools to continue working on myself in the future.”
