Hypnotherapy FAQ’s:

What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?

Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses hypnosis, a state of relaxation known as the ‘trance state’. During hypnotherapy sessions, a trained hypnotherapist guides you into a trance state and makes suggestions to the unconscious mind to facilitate desired positive changes in beliefs, habits, and behaviors. This is achieved by bypassing the critical faculty of the conscious mind and directly communicating with the unconscious mind, which is responsible for habit formation and our behaviors and beliefs. Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a wide range of issues, including weight loss, emotional eating, anxiety, depression, phobias, confidence, fear of public speaking, body image, sleep problems, relationships, motivation, and more.

What happens in a Hypnotherapy Session?

During your first hypnotherapy session with me, we'll work together to understand the root cause of the issue you want to address. As an experienced hypnotherapist, I use a range of techniques including hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and Time Line TherapyTM to help you achieve your goals.

Typically, our first session will last up to 3 hours as we delve deeper into your issue and explore how it's impacting your life. By asking a range of questions, I'll connect with your unconscious mind and gain insights into how the problem is affecting you. We'll also identify how you'd like your life to be different after our sessions.

I'll work with you to release the negative emotions and beliefs that contribute to your underlying issue. We'll also resolve any internal conflicts that are hindering progress and integrate new positive behaviors into your daily life.

Prior to our first session, we'll start some pre-work to connect with your unconscious mind and prepare for the process of reprogramming your mind. This work is essential for optimal results.

Throughout the entire process, you'll receive email support from me to help you achieve your goals. I also collaborate with other professionals if necessary to ensure you receive the best service available.

Can I be hypnotised?

Yes, anyone who can follow instructions can be hypnotised as it is a natural state that we all enter throughout the day. It requires only a willingness and desire to engage with the process and accept the suggestions.

Will I lose control during hypnosis?

You are always in complete control during hypnotherapy. If a suggestion is out of alignment with your values, you will immediately bring yourself out of the trance state and awaken fully. The role of the hypnotherapist is to assist clients in gaining more control over their own minds and behaviors, not the other way around.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy utilises the trance state to connect with the unconscious mind and make positive suggestions that facilitate desired changes in beliefs, habits, and behaviors. The hypnotherapist helps the client relax deeply, allowing their mind to bypass the critical faculty and communicate directly with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind, in this state of deep relaxation, can accept positive suggestions without question. By using hypnotherapy in combination with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), it is possible to reprogram new and more positive beliefs, habits, and behaviors, release negative emotions, and support clients in making the positive changes they desire in their lives. The neuroplasticity of the brain, as discussed in books like "The Brain that Changes Itself," helps us understand how our brains can change and create new neural pathways at any age.

Hypnotherapy, NLP, and Time Line TherapyTM are powerful tools that allow us to gain a deeper understanding and connection with our own minds and use them to our greatest advantage.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Anyone who is able to follow instructions and has a willingness to engage in the process can be hypnotised. Hypnosis is a natural state that we experience multiple times a day, such as when we are waking up, falling asleep, watching TV, or scrolling on our phones. It is similar to daydreaming or imagining and requires no special talent or belief in hypnosis for it to be effective.

Will I lose control during hypnotherapy?

You are always in control during hypnotherapy. If a suggestion made by the hypnotherapist is not in alignment with your innermost values, you will immediately bring yourself out of the trance state and fully awaken. A hypnotherapist can only make suggestions to a client that are in alignment with their values and beliefs, and the ultimate goal is to help the client gain more control over their own mind and behaviors.

How does hypnotherapy differ from traditional therapy?

Hypnotherapy differs from traditional therapy in that it focuses on the unconscious mind and utilises hypnosis to facilitate desired changes at a deeper level. While traditional therapy often focuses on addressing the symptoms of an issue, hypnotherapy aims to address the underlying causes and make lasting changes at the subconscious level. It can often be more efficient, as fewer sessions may be needed to see results.

How can Hypnotherapy help me?

Hypnotherapy is a highly effective tool for creating lasting change in your life. By accessing your unconscious mind, we are able to address the root cause of your issues and make changes to your beliefs, habits, and behaviors at a subconscious level. This means that you can overcome problems like weight loss, emotional eating, anxiety, depression, phobias, low confidence, fear of public speaking, body image issues, sleep problems, relationship issues, and lack of motivation, permanently. With hypnotherapy, you often need fewer sessions than with other traditional forms of therapy, making it a quick and efficient way to create lasting change.
